A Maine man charged with drunken driving was traveling the wrong way on Interstate 95 when he collided head-on with another vehicle whose driver was pregnant, state police said.

The chief of police says a cruiser was struck during the incident, which prompted several road closures late Sunday night.

Maine State Police say a Windham man was driving north in the southbound lanes when he hit another driver head-on.

State police said Belter Ortega Lemus was charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle, wrong operation of a motor vehicle and operation of a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

FALMOUTH, Maine (WABI) - A Windham man is facing charges after a wrong-way crash on the Maine Turnpike that sent a pregnant woman to the hospital. State Police say they received a report of a wrong-way driver at mile marker 53 in Falmouth Saturday night.
