Passengers say they have been “stuck on the tarmac for hours” after all flights were grounded at Edinburgh Airport due to an “IT issue”. The airport released a statement on Sunday afternoon saying an issue with Air Traffic Control meant flights were grounded.

More than two dozen inbound and outbound flights were cancelled and others delayed after an IT glitch closed Edinburgh airport. Services were disrupted for about two and a half hours from 4pm on Sunday. The airport said that an air traffic control IT issue had been resolved shortly after 6.30pm last night.

Edinburgh Live reported on the passengers left stranded in the airport after being informed their flights were cancelled or delayed. The airport issued a statement saying: "The IT issues affecting Air Traffic Control has now been resolved and flights have now resumed.
