The man killed in a small plane crash on I-684 near Westchester County Airport was identified as Yankele Friedman, a 32-year-old flight instructor.

A New York man died after a small plane crashed in the median of Interstate 684 in Greenwich, near the New York border, on Thursday night and the pilot suffered minor injuries, according to Connecticut state police.

A plane crash along I-684 in Greenwich left one person dead and another seriously injured, authorities said, and the pilot had reported engine trouble.

A second person on the flight was in serious condition. The single-engine plane crashed shortly after the pilot reported engine issues.

The plane departed from Linden, N.J., and was en route to the Westchester County Airport in West Harrison, N.Y. Friedman reported the aircraft started having engine issues while it was heading to the airport.
