Based on Joss Whedon ‘s 1992 movie of the same name, which Barrymore revealed she auditioned for, Buffy the Vampire Slayer ran for seven seasons on The WB from 1997 to 2003. It followed the titular Valley girl as she relocates to Sunnydale High School, which sits on top of a Hellmouth, providing plenty of supernatural evil for her to slay.

The star revealed she’d had a change of heart after watching the recent Sex and the City and Dexter series. After previously insisting she would never return to the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar has now said that she would be open to reprising her role in a reboot.
